Gather & Grow Update By Nancy Maxfield
G & G—Gather and Grow? After this past weekend, many of us, who spent time at the Sweet Life Café Retreat, will think of G & G as God and Girlfriends! What a tremendous time we had learning and sharing with each other. A very special thank you to Sandy Lewis, who not only performed the duties of director fantastically well, but also made book bags for each participant. To Lottie Jespersen, who stepped out of her comfort zone and acted as our song and worship leader. To Louise Aebersold, Jan Rowe and Ellen Whitehead, our session leaders. To Ida McCutcheon and Nona Bos, who put Starbucks to shame with the warm café atmosphere they created in the Fellowship Hall. To Vonda Starick (registrar), Amy Nelson (publicity) and Ruth Hanson (food). Thank you each for being willing to go above and beyond! To continue this enthusiasm and excitement, on Wednesday, April 7 at 1:-00 PM, we will begin a six-week Bible study based on Sweet Life Café. It will be on the Fruits of the Spirit—with special emphasis on patience. Even if you didn’t attend the retreat, come and study the Word at Nancy Maxfield’s home.
Supper and crafts are being offered on Friday, April 23 at 6:00 PM. Amy Nelson will teach how to make mini-meals that are quick and simple—we will be able to sample! Joyce Hice will teach how to make a greeting card by folding paper. Do you have a skill you would like to share? Let us know. This should be a fun night. The cost is $5 and we will have a sign-up sheet soon.
Save the date Saturday, May 8 at 10:00 AM for G & G’s annual Spring Brunch. The theme will be aprons. If you have an apron—with a story tell—you are encouraged to bring it. Also bring your mother, daughter, sister, and/or friend to the brunch. A free will offering will be taken.
Tickets for the Historic Houses of Worship Tour have been ordered for Monday, June 7. The tickets are $40 and include a box lunch. The tour leaves the Detroit Historical Museum at 9:30 AM and returns at 4:00 PM. We will visit churches in the Grosse Ille area. This is a popular event and open to men as well as women. See Nancy Maxfield if interested.
